Olive & Birch is a Nashville wedding planning + florist team that I’ve had the pleasure of working with at Ashley & John’s wedding at Long Hollow Gardens. The day flowed so smoothly, there were no hiccups, and the layout was BEAUTIFUL! Read on to get to know more about Olivia and her team.
Tell me a little about yourself and Olive & Birch!
We have been in business for three years, and our mission is to offer a unique approach to wedding planning and the floral industry to serve one-of-a-kind weddings.
What made you want to be a wedding planner and start Olive & Birch?
Walking alongside a couple in the transition season between dating to being married is one of the greatest privileges.
What sorts of services do you offer (month-of coordination, full-service planning, or à la carte planning)?
Olive & Birch offers Month of Coordination, Full-Service Planning and Day of Coordination
Will you handle every aspect of the planning, or can we do some things on our own? In other words, what parts of the planning will we be responsible for?
We charge at an hourly rate rather than a package rate. That will provide couples with the flexibility to do some pieces of planning on their own if they prefer. But as far as “can we do everything?” the answer is yes.
How many meetings will we have, and how will we be involved?
We will meet at least once a month to ensure we stay at a great pace, but after that, we determine the frequency of meetings based on the needs of the unique event.
Do you handle professional services, contracts, and payment processing?
Can you walk us through the process of selecting other vendors and how we would be involved?
Will you handle the invitations, from wording and ordering to the addressing and mailing? What about guest list coordination and RSVPs?
Do you handle rentals? Will you coordinate delivery, arrival, and set up times with the photographer, the florist, the musicians, and the caterer/banquet manager?
How many people on your staff will be at the wedding?
This depends on how large the event is, but we will have at least two team members present for the majority of events.
Can you create a timeline that tells everyone involved in the planning process (other pros, members of the wedding party, to-be-weds, and families) what to do and when to do it? How will you make sure everyone sticks to the schedule?
Yes, we will create a full Day of- Execution plan. The key to a well run day of proactive communication with all vendors and family members + creating a schedule with enough spaciousness to it that it can be flexible if needed.
How many weddings have you planned?
We have worked with almost 100 weddings in some capacity whether that be full planning, Day of Coordination or Event Design
What’s your secret for staying calm under pressure, and how do you deal with day-of disasters?
You go into every event with a very clear plan + remind yourself that any problem has a solution. We have never worked an event where something went wrong that didn’t get fixed.
Do any of your packages include honeymoon planning? If not, would you provide that service, and what would be the extra cost to include it in our contract?
At the moment, we do not!
Do you have references? (testimonials from both professionals and recent couples.)
Yes, we have many reviews from past couples. They can be accessed on our website (olive-birch.com), Google, and The Knot.
What’s your biggest tip to a couple planning their big day?
That everything you’re doing and working on is ultimately leading up to one of the most sacred moments of your life – the moment you enter into marriage. Try to treat all the details with that end in mind. Oh, and have a lot of fun too 🙂
