I’ve had the pleasure of working with Nashville wedding planner, The New Eclectic, and they were fantastic! The day went by very smoothly, and they were extremely nice and all-around cool people! Professionalism is the most important thing when choosing vendors, but personality is a very close second. Alex and Izzi both have awesome personalities and are always a joy to work with! You can view their website here.
Tell me a little about yourself and your Nashville wedding planner team!
Hi! I’m Alex, and I am the owner and lead Nashville wedding planner at The New Eclectic. I started planning a little over 5 years ago, and my favorite part is the design aspect of all of it. Izzi joined the team around 3 years ago and has been a huge asset to me (and my sanity, ha!). We also have several assistants that rotate around depending on wedding size/scale.
What made you want to be a Nashville wedding planner?
After I planned my wedding several years ago, I had several people ask me to help design/help plan their wedding. At that point, I was super torn on what path I wanted to take career-wise. I always knew I wanted to do something design-related. Originally, I was thinking of interior design, which I still love and am super passionate about. Anyways, I decided to kind of jump in blindly to the wedding planning business. I learned a lot really quickly, and I’m so happy I jumped in!
As a Nashville wedding planner, what sorts of services do you offer (month-of coordination, full-service planning, or à la carte planning)?
Month Of Coordination, Design Planning, Full Planning, and Custom Design Boards
Will you handle every aspect of the planning or can we do some things on our own? In other words, what parts of the planning will we be responsible for?
We can customize packages to fit any need! Obviously, our full planning is the most involved.
How many meetings will we have, and how will we be involved?
I don’t have a limit on meetings with Full Planning or Design Planning clients as long as everything is in reason!
Do you handle professional services, contracts, and payment processing?
Depends on the packages the couple chooses, but with full planning, all contracts pass through me to proof, but the client is ultimately the one signing and paying.
Can you walk us through the process of selecting other vendors and how we would be involved?
Typically I send along options that would be a good fit for the budget, the client looks them over, picks a favorite, and we go from there!
Will you handle the invitations, from wording and ordering to the addressing and mailing? What about guest list coordination and RSVPs?
With Full and Design planning, I help pick design/wording for invites. I do not track RSVPS or mail invites for clients. I use a program that I give Full, and Design clients access to where they can easily track guests RSVPs, entree choices, etc. It also allows them to easily make a seating chart. When everything is in the program, it allows me to have access to the information I need as the day gets closer.
Do you handle rentals? Will you coordinate delivery, arrival, and set up times with the photographer, the florist, the musicians, and the caterer/banquet manager?
How many people on your staff will be at the wedding?
It depends on the size. There is always a lead planner and an assistant (unless the guest size is under 50 people).
Can you create a timeline that tells everyone involved in the planning process (other pros, members of the wedding party, to-be-weds, and families) what to do and when to do it? How will you make sure everyone sticks to the schedule?
Definitely! We do this for each package we offer.
How many weddings have you planned?
I have worked over 100 at this point in some capacity.
What’s your secret for staying calm under pressure, and how do you deal with day-of disasters?
Take and deep breath and figure it out. Stressing out never solved anything. I take the time I could waste stressing, and I handle it. Thankfully we haven’t ever had a true disaster (knock on wood).
Do any of your Nashville wedding planner packages include honeymoon planning? If not, would you provide that service, and what would be the extra cost to include it in our contract?
No, I always refer clients to a travel agent if they need help with this.
Do you have references? (testimonials from both professionals and recent couples.)
As a Nashville wedding planner, what’s your biggest tip to a couple planning their big day?
Don’t stress, set a budget, and be flexible. A lot of times, people have a HUGE vision on a not so huge budget. There are still ways to make things fabulous without absolutely breaking the bank. Think about how you really want the day to feel when it’s all said and done, and make choices that will get you to that vision.
