Tell me a little about The Turnbull.
The Turnbull is an adaptive reuse and restoration of a National Register of Historic Places structure located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The building used to serve as an ice cream cone factory, but now serves as a stunning Chattanooga wedding venue!
What are some of the things The Turnbull has that sets you apart from other Chattanooga wedding venues?
As a restored historic building, The Turnbull features timeless industrial architectural elements like the steel frame windows, original wood beams, and exposed brick. Our Chattanooga wedding venue is conveniently situated in downtown Chattanooga, steps away from hotels, restaurants, and attractions for guests to enjoy during the entirety of their wedding weekend.
How many people can the venue hold, both seated and standing?
Our Chattanooga wedding venue can accommodate up to 250 people seated and 300 standing.
How much does renting the venue cost, and what exactly does that include?
Depending on the day of the week, our prices range from $1450 up to $4500 – but when you rent our facilities, you have access to two separate floors of venue space, event furniture to seat up to 300 guests, and an on-site venue manager who is present all day on your event date.
What are the rates for different days of the week and times (Friday, Saturday, Sunday; morning, afternoon, evening)? What about different seasons?
We are open to book throughout the week and actually have hosted a wedding every single day of the week in our space! Weekdays (Monday-Thursday) will cost you anywhere from $1450-2400, depending on the amount of space you require. Fridays and Sundays are also cheaper than our Saturday rates at $3750. Saturday, our most expensive day, begins at $4450. We do not price differently according to seasons, but we do have increased prices on certain holidays.
Is there parking available for guests? How many spots?
We have 7 spots reserved for the building at all times; after those spots are taken, you and your guests can use the available street & pay-to-park public parking options in the area surrounding the venue to accommodate your event. The available public parking has been able to accommodate our events in the past, and we are closely located to several different hotels that offer parking garages/lots as well.
Are couples free to hire their own vendors, or do you have a list of preferred vendors?
We do not work off a restricted vendor list, so couples have a lot of freedom when choosing their vendors for their wedding day. We require caterers and bar staff to be licensed and insured, but after that, it is up to our couples to choose.
What is your alcohol policy?
Alcohol is allowed but must be served by licensed bar staff. We also require event security to be hired and present at any event where alcohol is being served.
If a wedding is outdoors, what is the contingency plan in case of bad weather?
Our venue only consists of indoor space, but you have LOTS of windows to enjoy the scenic views of Lookout Mountain, rain or shine!
Are there bridal rooms and groom’s suites to get ready in?
We have one large private dressing room suite located on-site. It’s left up to the couple to decide who gets ready on-site, and typically the other half rents a hotel room or Airbnb nearby for the remaining bridal party.
Can couples have their rehearsal dinner at The Turnbull? What about a morning-after mimosa brunch?
We offer a complimentary one-hour ceremony rehearsal walkthrough the night prior to the wedding day. If couples are interested in renting our space for their rehearsal dinner, we can offer a discount off of the rehearsal dinner date if they have booked us for their wedding day as well.
How far in advance can a date be reserved?
I typically recommend inquiring, touring and booking a venue 9-12 months out. With that being said, our peak spring and fall months tend to book the quickest, so depending on what time of the year you want to get married, that may be something else you want to keep in mind.
Do you have your own sound equipment and speakers, or will those need to be rented or provided by the entertainment?
We do not provide any AV or sound equipment, and it would need to be hired or brought in for the specific event.
Will your staff be involved in setting up and breaking down the décor? In what capacity?
Our staff handles all the initial set up and final break down of all of the venue provided furniture. We take care of set up prior to your arrival and handle breakdown once the event has completed. We also offer the option to add on a room flip service, but it is not included.
What is the most common question you get asked by brides, and what is your answer?
“Can you help us with our floor plan?” and the answer is yes! We’ve seen countless events take place in our space and love to assist when creating the floor plan based on each couple’s specific wants and needs for their wedding day.
What’s your biggest tip for a couple planning their wedding day?
I have two: 1.) Invest in a good wedding coordinator – having someone designated to the position of handling the ins and outs of your wedding day is a great place to spend your money and likely one you will not regret! 2.) Hire vendors you love and allow them some creative freedom to utilize their talents and skills to customize their packages/designs/menus to help build your special day!
